Disctronics do not manufacture recordable blank CDs (also known as CD-Rs, WORM discs or gold discs). These are manufactured using a different manufacturing process and different materials. Both CDs and CD-Rs use polycarbonate for the substrate, but CD-Rs use gold and a dye while CDs use aluminium for the reflective layer.
Disctronics manufacture CDs and CD-ROMs of all formats. These are produced with the data stored within pits on the disc surface (see CD Formats). We will be pleased to provide a quotation for manufacture. Please use the Request for Quotation form.
Is a blank CD the same in price/size as CDs with data/audio?
The size is the same, but CD-Rs are more expensive to manufacture. See previous question.
Can you tell me where to purchase blank CDs?
Sorry but Disctronics do not sell blank CDs. See first question.

Is there a minimum order for compact discs?
The practical minimum order size is 500, but most orders are more than this. For details please ask Disctronics. For smaller order sizes, Disctronics offer a CD-R duplication service.
Could you tell me more details about DVD?
The DVD specification is contained in books which can be obtained from Toshiba for a license fee of $5,000. A summary of the DVD specifications is contained here.
Can DVD-Video discs be played on a CD-i or Video CD player?
No, DVDs cannot be played on a CD-i or Video CD player, because DVDs contain much more data and need special drives to read them. Also DVD-Video discs require MPEG-2 decoders. You will need a DVD-Video player which will also play Video CDs and Audio CDs but not CD-i discs.
Can DVD-Video players play Video CD and Audio CDs?
Yes, all DVD-Video players will play audio CDs and most will play video CDs.
Will DVD-Audio discs play on DVD-Video players?
Some discs may play on DVD-Video players, but new universal players will be needed to play all DVD-Audio and DVD-Video discs.
